The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Digital Device
Exactly 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story film debuted, establishing Pixar as a leading animation studio and bringing audiences to iconic characters like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now household names.
In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a brief look into the storyline but keeping fans curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys
The preview reveals the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he grew up — getting a latest toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters appear to consider it as a threat coming to replace them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer doesn't touch on is what Woody is back with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a fair and helping prize toys find good homes.
Surely, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is somewhat puzzling, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with him. And where is the stuntman toy (the star)?
Connections from the Previous Film
At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the badge attached to her outfit.
Hopefully she is remains the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
