19 of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hardcourt

A revitalized the Russian player secured his first championship for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a difficult year, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in especial - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with long-time mentor Cervara.

Currently training with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's maiden title following the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface since spring of that year.

Success also means he has achieved 21 victories at 21 different events.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters together, so to secure a title is particularly special," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my child her name, because the maiden victory I got when my child her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, including in that event in the past months.

His retrieving strategy and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had led some to wonder if his ability to play at the elite level was concluded.

But the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and compete assertively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

He recovered from a break down in the first set against the challenging Moutet, securing four of the concluding five games to go ahead.

The pair traded break points in the second set before the challenger, striving for his maiden professional title, gained dominance to push for a final set.

The opponent defended four early-game break points in a competitive third set before the champion secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, he earned the win with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
