An individual who spiked candy with sedative and distributed them to minors at a summer camp in the area has admitted sexual offenses against two young males aged nine and 10.
The defendant was taken into custody after eight youngsters and one adult fell ill at the facility in the summer month.
The senior citizen, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, admitted guilt to a total of 17 charges when he appeared at the judicial center on the end of the week.
Nevertheless, he denied a single sexual charge he was facing, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.
Ruben was kept in jail ahead of a subsequent court date on 28 November.
'Candy game'
The legal representative, presenting evidence, outlined Ruben's offending to the court.
She stated his victims were disadvantaged youngsters who were attending a summer program which he managed.
The defendant engaged in a "treat game" with the children, the prosecutor said, in which he would go into the children's bedrooms when they were settling down and request they to ingest treats "as fast as possible".
She told the court the defendant had played this game with the children "over an extended period", and children had previously become sick the following morning.
She said the defendant had been capable of justifying this for many years as the youngsters being "overexcited from fun", until his stepchild had worries in July 2025.
Mrs Prior KC added: "This year his family member had worries about the activities, justifiably.
"They chose" to investigate in the man's possessions."
The legal counsel stated items including lubricant, Vaseline and medical needles were found, and his stepson notified the police about his concerns.
She explained Ruben proceeded to conduct the "sweet game" with six children that evening - July 26th - and they were everyone unwell the next day.
"The police had not gone out by that point," she added.
The oversight body, the investigative body, previously told that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the incident.
The legal representative stated the minors were having difficulty walking due to their sickness, so the family member contacted the law enforcement again.
She explained the man then conducted the "treat game" in a area of five minors.
